NAY, but consider the moon! 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 it is a warning to man, 36 Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 who will be in Paradise 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the poor; 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 and whoever wills may take it to heart. 55 And they will not mind unless Allah please. He is worthy to be feared and worthy to forgive. 56
