The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
