HENCE, [remember how it was] when thy Sustainer summoned Moses: "Go unto those evil doing people. 10 The people of Fir'aun (Pharaoh). Will they not fear Allah and become righteous?" 11 He answered: "O my Sustainer! Behold, I fear that they will give me the lie, 12 and then my breast will be straitened and my tongue will not be free: send, then, [this Thy command] to Aaron. 13 As for me, they hold the charge of a crime against me. I fear they will put me to death." 14 Allah said: "Nay! Go you both with Our Signs. Verily! We shall be with you, listening. 15 Then come to Firon and say: Surely we are the apostles of the Lord of the worlds: 16 That you should send the children of Israel with us.' 17 (Pharaoh) said: "Did we not cherish thee as a child among us, and didst thou not stay in our midst many years of thy life? 18 And thou didst the deed thou didst, being one of the ungrateful!' 19 Said Moosa, “I did that at a time when I was unaware of the consequences.” (In anger – See verse 28:15) 20 and I fled from you because I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and made me one of the messengers. 21 And this is the favour with which you taunt me -- that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?" 22 Pharaoh said, 'And what is the Lord of all Being?' 23 'He' (Moses) replied: 'is the Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if you believe' 24 (The Pharaoh) said to those around him: "Do you hear?" 25 Said Moosa, “Your Lord and the Lord of your forefathers preceding you.” 26 [Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad." 27 (Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!" 28 Said Firaun, “If you ascribe any one else as a God other than me, I will surely imprison you.” 29 and Moses asked, "Even if I show you a clear sign?" 30 [Pharaoh] said, "Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful." 31 Then he cast down his staff, and lo! it was a serpent manifest. 32 And he drew forth his hand, and lo, it was white to the beholders. 33
