And recite to them the story of Ibrahim. 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: 'We worship idols and continue cleaving to them' 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 or do they cause you any benefit or harm?" 73 They said: nay; but we found our fathers doing in this wise. 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 "You and your ancient fathers? 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 "Who created me, and it is He Who guides me; 78 "And it is He Who feeds me and gives me to drink. 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 And ordain for me a goodly mention among posterity 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 And disgrace me not on the day when they are raised 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 Save him who bringeth unto Allah a whole heart. 89 On the Day of Judgment Paradise will be brought near the pious 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was but the guilty who misled us. 99 We have no one to intercede for us before God 100 and no sincere friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
