The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Mount 1 by the book (Torah) written 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 And the lofty roof. 5 And the sea kept filled, 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 There is none can avert it;- 8 (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, 9 and the mountains shudder and shake. 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 such as play at plunging, 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Roast in it, bear it with or without patience, it is the same, you are only being recompensed for that which you used to do' 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ And they will be waited upon by [immortal] youths, [as if they were children] of their own, [as pure] as if they were pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will turn to one another and ask (regarding the past events). 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 we were before ever calling upon Him; surely He is the All-benign, the All-compassionate.' 28
