Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the break of Day 1 And the ten nights, 2 And by the even and the odd, 3 and by the passing night, 4 Considering all this - could there be, to anyone endowed with reason, a [more] solemn evidence of the truth? 5 Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with Ad, 6 The people of many-columned lram. 7 the like of whom has never been reared in all the land? 8 And Thamood, who hewed out the rocks of the valley? 9 And with Pharaoh, lord of stakes? 10 led rebellious lives, 11 And increased therein the corruption. 12 So your Lord poured on them different kinds of severe torment. 13 Verily thy Lord is in an ambuscade, 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him by honoring him and favoring him, he says: 'My Lord, has honored me' 15 However, when his Lord tests him by a measured amount of sustenance, he says, "God has disgraced me". 16 Nay! but you do not honor the orphan, 17 or urge one another to feed the destitute? 18 and you greedily devour the inheritance of the weak, 19 And you love wealth with exceeding love. 20 Most certainly – when the earth is smashed and blown to bits. 21 And your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank, 22 And when hell is brought that day – on that day will man reflect, but where is the time now to think? 23 He shall say, 'O would that I had forwarded for my life!' 24 Then on that Day Allah will chastise as none other can chastise; 25 none shall bind as He binds. 26 O the contented soul! 27 "Come back thou to thy Lord,- well pleased (thyself), and well-pleasing unto Him! 28 Then enter the ranks of My chosen bondmen! 29 And enter into My garden. 30
