A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)

206 verses, revealed in Mecca after S (Saad) before Jinns (Al-Jinn)

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

۞ Alif Lam Mim Suad. 1 A Book sent down to thee -- so let there be no impediment in thy breast because of it -- to warn thereby, and as a reminder to believers: 2 (People), follow whatever is revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow other guardians besides Him. However, you pay very little attention (to Our words) 3 And how many a town that We destroyed, so Our punishment came to it by night or while they slept at midday. 4 Therefore they uttered nothing when Our punishment came to them, except that they said, “Indeed we were the unjust.” 5 Then verily We shall question those unto whom (Our message) hath been sent, and verily We shall question the messengers. 6 We shall recount (their deeds) to them with knowledge, for We were never absent (and saw all they did). 7 And the weighing [of deeds] that Day will be the truth. So those whose scales are heavy - it is they who will be the successful. 8 As for those whose bad deeds weigh heavier, they will lose their souls for their injustice to Our revelations. 9 And surely, We gave you authority on the earth and appointed for you therein provisions (for your life). Little thanks do you give. 10
