The people of 'Ad, too, rejected the messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not take heed? 124 Behold, I am an apostle [sent by Him] to you, [and therefore] worthy of your trust: 125 Have fear of God and obey me. 126 And I ask of you no wage therefor; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 127 "Will you, in your wanton folly, build [idolatrous] altars on every height, 128 and erect castles hoping that you will live forever. 129 And when ye seize, ye seize like unto tyrants. 130 “Therefore fear Allah, and obey me.” 131 And fear Him Who hath aided you with that which ye know. 132 Gave you increase of cattle and sons, 133 "And Gardens and Springs. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers 136 That is nothing but a habit of the ancients, 137 “And we will not be punished.” 138 And so they gave him the lie: and thereupon We destroyed them. In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 139 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
