The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And attentive to her Lord in fear, 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And the moon when at the full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
