We created mankind from clay, molded from mud, 26 And the jinn, We created aforetime from the smokeless flame of fire. 27 And (remember) when thy Lord said unto the angels: Lo! I am creating a mortal out of potter's clay of black mud altered, 28 "When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him." 29 So, the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. 30 except Iblis who refused to join with the others in prostration. 31 God asked Iblis, "What made you not join the others in prostration?" 32 He said it was not for me that I should prostrate myself unto a human being whom Thou hast created from ringing clay of loam moulded. 33 Allah said: then get thee forth therefrom; verily thou art one damned. 34 Upon thee shall rest the curse, till the Day of Doom.' 35 Iblis said: "My Lord! Grant me respite till the Day when they will be resurrected." 36 [Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved 37 for an appointed time." 38 (satan) said: 'My Lord, for Your perverting me, I shall make (matters) in the earth seem most fair to them and I shall pervert all, 39 But not such of them as are Thy bondmen single-hearted. 40 Allah said: "Here is the path that leads straight to Me. 41 Over My true servants you will be able to exercise no power, your power will be confined to the erring ones, those who choose to follow you. 42 and for all such, behold, hell is the promised goal. 43 It has seven gates and each gate is assigned for a certain group of people. 44
