۞ We bestowed aforetime on Abraham his rectitude of conduct, and well were We acquainted with him. 51 when he said unto his father and his people, "What are these images to which you are so intensely devoted?" 52 They replied: 'We found our fathers worshipping them' 53 He said, 'Then assuredly you and your fathers have been in manifest error.' 54 They said, “Have you brought the Truth to us, or are you just making fun?” 55 He said: "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Who created them and of that I am one of the witnesses. 56 “And, by oath of Allah, I shall seek to harm your idols after you have gone away and turned your backs.” 57 He broke them all into pieces, except their great one so that they might return to it. 58 They said, “Who has done this to our Gods? He is indeed cruel!” 59 Said some [of them]: "We heard a youth speak of these [gods with scorn]: he is called Abraham." 60 They said, “Therefore bring him in front of the people, perhaps they may testify.” 61 'Abraham' they said, 'was it you who did this to our gods' 62 He answered: "Rather it was this supreme one who has done it. So ask them, if they can speak." 63 Then they turned to themselves and said: Surely you yourselves are the unjust; 64 Then their minds were turned upside down, and they said: "You know well that they do not speak." 65 He said: worship ye, then, beside Allah, that which profiteth you not at all, nor it hurteth you? 66 “Disgrace be upon you and all the idols whom you worship instead of Allah; so do you not have sense?” 67 They said: "Burn him, and come to the support of your gods, if you are going to do anything." 68 "Turn cold, O fire," We said, "and give safety to Abraham." 69 And they desired a war on him, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 And We delivered him as well as Lut (removing them) to the land which We had blessed for all people. 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac, and Jacob as a grandson. Each of them We made righteous. 72 And We made them into leaders to guide people in accordance with Our command, and We inspired them to good works, and to establish Prayers and to give Zakah. They worshipped Us alone. 73 And to Lot We gave judgement and knowledge, and We saved him from the city that was committing wicked deeds. Indeed, they were a people of evil, defiantly disobedient. 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy, truly, he was of the righteous. 75
