The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not fear Allah and obey Him? 124 I have been sent as a trusted messenger to you. 125 Have fear of God and obey me. 126 I seek of you no reward for this; my reward is with none but the Lord of the Universe. 127 What, you build a monument on every hill merely for fun 128 And take ye for yourselves castles that haply ye may abide. 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants! 130 "Be, then, conscious of God and pay heed unto me: 131 And fear Him Who hath aided you with that which ye know. 132 He has bestowed on you cattle, and sons, 133 and with gardens and springs. 134 Surely I fear for you the chastisement of a grievous day 135 They said, "Whether you preach to us or not, 136 This has been happening all along. 137 We are not going to be damned." 138 So they rejected him; and We destroyed them. There is certainly a sign in that; but most of them would not believe. 139 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 140
