Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away, 33 And he gave a little, then refrained? 34 Is with him the knowledge of the unseen so that he sees? 35 Has he not been made acquainted with what was written in the scriptures of Moses? 36 and Abraham, he who paid his debt in full? 37 That no burdened soul bears another soul’s burden? 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 And that his effort will soon be scrutinised? 40 whereupon he shall be requited for it with the fullest requital; 41 and that the final end is unto thy Lord, 42 that it is He who brings laughter and tears; 43 and that it is He who makes to die, and that makes to live, 44 And that He createth the pair, the male and the female. 45 From a drop (of seed) when it is poured forth; 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 that He it is Who bestowed wealth and riches, 48 That He is the Lord of Sirius (the Mighty Star); 49 And that He did destroy the Ad of old 50 Thamud, 51 And the people of Nuh (Noah) aforetime, verily, they were more unjust and more rebellious and transgressing [in disobeying Allah and His Messenger Nuh (Noah)]. 52 And He destroyed the Overthrown Cities (of Sodom and Gomorrah). 53 So that they were covered over by what they were covered over. 54 So which then of your Lord's favors do you dispute? 55 THIS IS a warning like those warnings of old: 56 The Approaching Day has approached. 57 There shall be none besides Allah to remove it. 58 Do you then marvel at this discourse, 59 and do you laugh, and do you not weep, 60 and divert yourselves all the while? 61 Prostrate yourselves before God, and worship Him alone! ۩ 62
