The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Those on the right hand; how happy shall those on the right hand be! 8 And the People on the Left: and how miserable will be the People on the Left! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 and a few from later times. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Immortal youths will wait upon them 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 and serried acacias, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and flowing water 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 full of love, well-matched 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
