Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 labouring, weary, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Remind them, for thou art but a remembrancer, 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 To Us they will all return. 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
