Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They said: "We worship idols, and to them we are ever devoted." 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 He said: "Do ye then see whom ye have been worshipping,- 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 who created me; and He guides me, 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 "And when I am ill, it is He Who cures me; 80 Who will make me die, then give me life again, 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 "Grant me honourable mention on the tongue of truth among the latest (generations); 84 and place me amongst the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss. 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 “The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons.” 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 "And it shall be said to them: 'Where are the (gods) ye worshipped- 92 "'Besides Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?' 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and the hosts of iblis all together. 95 Disputing among themselves they will say: 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 “Nor a caring friend.” 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
