The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 and continuous shade, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those of the right hand. 38
