A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif, Lam, Meem, Sad. 1 (It is) a Scripture that is revealed unto thee (Muhammad) - so let there be no heaviness in thy heart therefrom - that thou mayst warn thereby, and (it is) a Reminder unto believers. 2 (Saying): Follow that which is sent down unto you from your Lord, and follow no protecting friends beside Him. Little do ye recollect! 3 Many a habitation have We laid low before: Our retribution came upon them in the night or in the midst of siesta at noon. 4 Therefore they uttered nothing when Our punishment came to them, except that they said, “Indeed we were the unjust.” 5 We will question those to whom Our Message was sent, as We shall question the Messengers. 6 with full knowledge, We shall tell them what they did, for We have never been away from them. 7 And true will be the weighing on that Day; and those whose weight [of good deeds] is heavy in the balance - it is they, they who shall attain to a happy state; 8 And those whose scales are light - they are the ones who will lose themselves for what injustice they were doing toward Our verses. 9 And indeed We established you in the earth and in it created for you the means of livelihood; very little thanks do you offer! 10
