Man We fashioned from fermented clay dried tingling hard, 26 And the jinn We created before from scorching fire. 27 And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud. 28 When I have shaped him, and breathed My spirit in him, fall you down, bowing before him!' 29 Thereupon the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together, 30 Except Iblis (Satan); he refused to be among those who prostrated. 31 God asked Iblis, "What made you not join the others in prostration?" 32 Said he, 'I would never bow myself before a mortal whom Thou hast created of a clay of mud moulded.' 33 "Go hence, execrable," (said the Lord), "from this place, 34 Upon thee shall rest the curse, till the Day of Doom.' 35 He said: 'My Lord, reprieve me till the Day they are raised' 36 The Lord said, "Your request is granted 37 "Till the Day of the time appointed." 38 Said he, 'My Lord, for Thy perverting me I shall deck all fair to them in the earth, and I shall pervert them, all together, 39 Save such of them as are Thy perfectly devoted slaves. 40 (Allah) said: "This (way of My sincere servants) is indeed a way that leads straight to Me. 41 over My servants thou shalt have no authority, except those that follow thee, 42 "And surely, Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 with seven gates leading into it, each gate receiving its allotted share of sinners. 44
