The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 And by those who float in space, 3 by the angels who hasten along 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 and hastily turned away, 22 and gathered his people together 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah). 26
