He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 to a rich man, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And he fears, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 olives, dates, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 and covered by darkness. 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
