The tribe of Thamud denied the Noble Messengers. 23 they said, "Are we to follow a man from amongst ourselves? We would surely then fall into error and madness. 24 How is it that he has received guidance? In fact, he is the most untruthfull and arrogant person". 25 [And God said:] "On the morrow they will come to know who the boastful liar is! 26 “We shall send a she-camel to test them, therefore O Saleh, wait and have patience.” 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them, each [day of] drink attended [by turn]. 28 But they called their companion who took a sword and hamstrung her. 29 Then, how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 30 We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. 31 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 32 The people of Lot rejected the warnings. 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 As favor from us. Thus do We reward he who is grateful. 35 For he had truly warned them of Our punishing might; but they stubbornly cast doubt on these warnings, 36 And certainly they endeavored to turn him from his guests, but We blinded their eyes; so taste My chastisement and My warning. 37 Indeed an abiding chastisement came upon them in the morning. 38 "Taste My punishment now that you have scorned My warnings!" 39 And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? 40
