Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 In a Garden on high, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 And cups put in place 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
