O you apostles, eat things that are clean, and do things that are good. We are surely cognisant of what you do. 51 This community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so hold Me alone in fear. 52 Yet they have split their affairs between themselves into sects, each rejoicing in what it has. 53 But leave them alone, lost in their ignorance, until a [future] time. 54 Do they think that in giving them wealth and children 55 Is [because] We hasten for them good things? Rather, they do not perceive. 56 Surely those who stand in awe for fear of their Lord, 57 who have full faith in the Signs of their Lord; 58 And those who do not ascribe any partner to their Lord – 59 And those who give that which they give with hearts afraid because they are about to return unto their Lord, 60 those, hasten in good works, outracing to them. 61 And We task not any soul except according to its capacity, and with Us is a book speaking with truth, and they will not be wronged. 62 Nay, but their hearts are in perplexity as to this, and they have deeds besides that that they are doing. 63 Until, when We seize in Punishment those of them who received the good things of this world, behold, they will groan in supplication! 64 'Groan not today; surely you shall not be helped from Us. 65 My revelations were recited unto you, but ye used to turn back on your heels, 66 being proud against it, talking foolishness by night. 67 Did they never ponder over this Word (of God)? Or has he (to wit, the Messenger) brought something the like of which did not come to their forefathers of yore? 68 Or do they not recognise their Messenger, that they deny him? 69 Do they say he is possessed? Rather he has brought them the truth, but most of them are averse to the truth. 70 If truth had followed their whims and desires, heavens and earth and all that lives in them would have been brought to ruin. Rather We have brought them their Reminder. Yet they keep avoiding their Reminder. 71 Or dost thou [O Muhammad] ask of them any worldly recompense? But [they ought to know that] recompense from thy Sustainer is best, since He is the best of providers! 72 And verily, thou callest them onto a straight way 73 And most surely those who do not believe in the hereafter are deviating from the way. 74 ۞ And if We have mercy upon them and remove the calamity which has befallen them, they would still stubbornly persist, wandering in their rebellion. 75 We struck them with torment, but they did not submit themselves to their Lord, nor did they make themselves humble 76 Until when We shall open upon them a portal of severe torment, and lo! thereat they are desparing. 77
