In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O thou folded in garments! 1 Stand up for worship during the night, except for some part of it. 2 Half of it,- or a little less, 3 Or add to it, and recite the Qur'an with measured recitation. 4 Indeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word. 5 Surely the rising by night is the firmest way to tread and the best corrective of speech. 6 Indeed, for you by day is prolonged occupation. 7 Remember the Name of your Lord and dedicate yourself devoutly to Him. 8 (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. 9 And patiently endure upon what the disbelievers say, and leave them for good. 10 Leave Me to those who cry lies, those prosperous ones, and respite them a little, 11 We have in store for them heavy fetters and a blazing Fire, 12 food which chokes (them), and a painful torment. 13 (They will come across all this) on the Day when the earth and the mountains shall tremble violently and the mountains shall crumble into heaps of scattered sand. 14 We have sent you a Messenger, who will witness your deeds, just as We sent a Messenger to the Pharaoh. 15 But Fir'aun (Pharaoh) disobeyed the Messenger [Musa (Moses)], so We seized him with a severe punishment. 16 Then how shall ye, if ye deny (Allah), guard yourselves against a Day that will make children hoary-headed?- 17 on which the heaven will split apart, and His promise is done. 18 This is indeed a Reminder. Let whosoever will take the Path to his Lord. 19
