No! By the moon 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 As a warning to humanity - 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 except those of the right hand 39 in Gardens they will question 40 About the criminals, 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 and they shall reply, "We were not among those who prayed; 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 No indeed; surely it is a Reminder; 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
