The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 That over each soul there is a guardian. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He is created from a water gushing forth. 6 That issueth from between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely (Allah) is able to bring him back (to life)! 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the sky which returns [rain] 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 it is no merriment. 14 Lo! they plot a plot (against thee, O Muhammad) 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So respite thou the infidels - respite them gently, 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
