The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 by the day when it appears radiant, 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 As for he who gives and fears Allah 5 And testifieth to the Good, 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 And rejects the best, 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 And avoid it shall the most pious, 17 he that spends his possessions [on others] so that he might grow in purity 18 They do not expect any reward 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
