In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 He taught the human being what he did not know. 5 No! [But] indeed, man transgresses 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all). 8 What do you think? Have you seen he who forbids 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
