SAY [O Muhammad]: "I am only a warner; and there is no deity whatever save God, the One, who holds absolute sway over all that exists, 65 Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, all-mighty, all-forgiving." 66 Say, "It is great news 67 Whence ye turn away! 68 "I had no knowledge of the chiefs (angels) on high when they were disputing and discussing (about the creation of Adam). 69 Naught is revealed to me save that I am a plain warner. 70 When thy Lord said unto the angels: Lo! I am about to create a mortal out of mire, 71 And when I have made him and have breathed into him of My spirit. Fall down in homage before him." 72 The angels fell down prostrate, every one, 73 save Iblis; he waxed proud, and was one of the unbelievers. 74 Allah said: O Iblis! what preventeth thee from prostrating thyself before that which I have created with both my hands? Becomest thou stiff-necked, or art thou of the exalted ones? 75 He (satan) replied: 'I am better than he. You created me from fire, and You created him from clay' 76 Said He, 'Then go thou forth hence; thou art accursed. 77 And surely My curse is on you to the day of judgment. 78 He said, “My Lord! Therefore give me respite till the day when all will be raised.” 79 He said: “You are of those who have been granted respite 80 "Till the Day of the time appointed." 81 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "By Your Might, then I will surely mislead them all, 82 except Your sincere servants among them". 83 [And God] said: "This, then, is the truth! And this truth do I state: 84 I will fill up Hell with you and every one of them who follows you." 85 Say: "I do not ask any compensation of you for it, nor am I a specious pretender. 86 This is nothing else but a reminder to all the worlds, 87 And most certainly you will come to know about it after a time. 88
