38 verses, revealed in Medina after Iron (Al-Hadeed) before Thunder (Al-Ra'ad)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
God will bring to naught all the good deeds of those who are bent on denying the truth and bar [others] from the path of God. 1 And those who believe and work righteous works and believe in that which hath been revealed unto Muhammad - and it is the truth from their Lord - He shall expiate their misdeeds from them and shall make good their state. 2 That is because those who disbelieved followed falsehood whereas those who believed followed the Truth that came to them from their Lord. Thus does Allah set forth to people parables showing their true state. 3 When you meet the unbelievers, smite their necks, then, when you have made wide slaughter among them, tie fast the bonds; then set them free, either by grace or ransom, till the war lays down its loads. So it shall be; and if God had willed, He would have avenged Himself upon them; but that He may try some of you by means of others. And those who are slain in the way of God, He will not send their works astray. 4 He will guide them and improve their condition. 5 And cause them to enter the garden which He has made known to them. 6 O you who have attained to faith! If you help [the cause of] God, He will help you, and will make firm your steps; 7 But as for the unbelievers, ill chance shall befall them! He will send their works astray. 8 That is so as they were averse to what has been revealed by God, and their actions will be nullified. 9 ۞ Have they not travelled the earth and seen how those before them met their end? God destroyed them utterly: a similar fate awaits those who deny the truth. 10 That is because Allah is patron of those who believe, and because the disbelievers have no patron. 11

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
