Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the (Winds) that scatter broadcast; 1 then the bearers of weight (the clouds), 2 And those that flow with ease and gentleness; 3 And those (angels) who distribute (provisions, rain, and other blessings) by (Allah's) Command; 4 that what you are promised is certainly true 5 the Judgement will surely come to pass -- 6 By heaven with all its tracks 7 Indeed, you are in differing speech. 8 He is made to turn away from it who is (himself) averse. 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 who are heedless in the immersion. 11 They ask; "When will be the Day of Recompense?" 12 It will be the Day when they shall be scourged by the Fire 13 [And will be told], "Taste your torment. This is that for which you were impatient." 14 [But,] behold, the God-conscious will find themselves amid gardens and springs, 15 receiving what their Lord will give them because before this they were gooddoers. 16 they would lie asleep during but a small part of the night, 17 and at dawn would ask forgiveness, 18 And in their wealth the beggar and the outcast had due share. 19 And on the earth are signs for the certain [in faith] 20 and also in your own selves. Do you not see? 21 And in heaven is your provision and also what you are being promised. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak. 23
