The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 The likenesses of pearls well-protected, 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And shade extended 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And raised couches. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For those on the right. 38
