He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 You pay full attention, 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
