The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
