The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Reckoning for mankind is drawing near, yet they are heedless and turn away. 1 Whenever a new revelation comes to them from their Lord, they listen to it in a playful manner, 2 their hearts being set on other concerns. The wrong-doers whisper to one another: "This person is no more than a mortal like yourselves. Will you, then, be enchanted by sorcery while you see?" 3 He said: "My Lord knows whatever is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He hears all and knows everything." 4 They say: "Nay, these are confused dreams; nay, he has forged it; nay, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign, even as the Messengers of the past were sent with signs." 5 Not a township believed of those which We destroyed before them (though We sent them portents): would they then believe? 6 For [even] before thy time, [O Muhammad,] We never sent [as Our apostles] any but [mortal] men, whom We inspired - hence, [tell the deniers of the truth,] "If you do not know this, ask the followers of earlier revelation" 7 And We did not create them (the Messengers, with) bodies that ate not food, nor were they immortals, 8 Then We fulfilled for them the promise, and We saved them and whom We willed and destroyed the transgressors. 9 We have certainly sent down to you a Book in which is your mention. Then will you not reason? 10
