And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 "Or do they benefit you or harm you?" 73 They said, "No, but our fathers worshipped them." 74 He said: See now that which ye worship, 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me. 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 "And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement." 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 "And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations." 84 Make me inherit the bountiful Paradise. 85 and forgive my father, for he is one of those astray. 86 Degrade me not upon the day when they are raised up, 87 "The day when neither wealth will benefit nor will sons." 88 and when he alone will be saved who comes to God with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And Hell made visible to those who had gone astray. 91 And it will be said to them: "Where are those (the false gods whom you used to set up as rivals with Allah) that you used to worship 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 And all the armies of Satan. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 And none but the guilty led us astray; 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 no loyal friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
