۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 Besides Allah, then lead them to the way to hell. 23 And stop them, for they must be questioned. 24 'Why do you not help one another? 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 And some of them will confront the others, 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 They will say: “Nay, you yourselves were not the ones who would believe. 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 The statement of Our Lord is realized against us, and we are tasting it, 31 We seduced you astray; verily we were ourselves the seduced ones. 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals. 34 For when it was said to them: 'There is no god except Allah' they were always proud 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Nay, but he [whom you call a mad poet] has brought the truth; and he confirms the truth of [what the earlier of God's] message-bearers [have taught]. 37 Now certainly you shall be tasting the painful chastisement, 38 but you shall not be recompensed except for what you were doing. 39 But Allah's chosen servants (shall be spared this woeful end). 40 For them is a Sustenance determined, 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 In gardens of delight, 43 upon couches, set face to face, 44 They will be served with a cup full of crystal clear wine, 45 White, delicious to the drinkers, 46 There will neither be any harm in it for their body nor will it intoxicate their mind. 47 And with them are those who do not set gaze upon men except their husbands, the maidens with gorgeous eyes. 48 As if they were (delicate) eggs closely guarded. 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 A speaker of them saith: Lo! I had a comrade 51 Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)? 52 What! when we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then be certainly brought to judgment? 53 He will say: -- Do you wish to know where he is now?' 54 Then he looked down and saw him in the midst of hell. 55 'By Allah' he will say, 'you almost destroyed me! 56 But for the Favor of Allah I should have surely been among those who were arraigned (with you in Hell). 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 except for our first death, and are we not chastised? 59 This will indeed be great happiness. 60 For the like of it should the workers work. 61 Is that better as a hospitality, or the Tree of Ez-Zakkoum? 62 which We have made as a torment for the unjust? 63 for, behold, it is a tree that grows in the very heart of the blazing fire [of hell,] 64 Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils. 65 on it they shall feed, and with it they shall fill their bellies. 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 They can only return to hell. 68 They had found their fathers astray, 69 and they run in their footsteps. 70 And indeed before them, most of the former people went astray. 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 except the sincere worshipers of Allah. 74
