And Yunus was most surely of the apostles. 139 When he ran to the laden ship, 140 And he drew lots and was among the losers. 141 So the whale swallowed him, for he was blameworthy, 142 and had he not been among those who exalt (Allah), 143 He would certainly have remained inside the Fish till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ But We cast him forth on the naked shore in a state of sickness, 145 And We caused to grow over him a tree, a gourd. 146 And We sent him (on a mission) to a hundred thousand (men) or more. 147 and they believed. So We let them enjoy life for a while. 148 Now ask thou them: are there for thy Lord daughters and for them sons? 149 or is it that We have created the angels female, and they [who believe them to be divine] have witnessed [that act of creation]? 150 Is it not a lie invented by them when they say: 151 'Allah has begotten' They are truly liars. 152 Did He (then) choose daughters rather than sons? 153 What is amiss with you and your judgment? 154 Will ye not then reflect? 155 Or, is there for you a clear warranty 156 Bring your book if what you say is true. 157 And they have made between Him and the jinn a kinship whereas the jinn assuredly know that they are to be brought up 158 God is too glorious to be described as they describe Him 159 except for the sincere worshipers of Allah. 160 neither you nor what you worship 161 you shall not tempt any against Him 162 Except he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire. 163 There is not one of us (angels) but has his known place (or position); 164 And most surely we are they who draw themselves out in ranks, 165 Verily, we (angels), we are they who glorify (Allah's Praises i.e. perform prayers). 166 What though they would say, 167 “If we had some advice from the earlier generations,” – 168 we would have been sincere worshipers of Allah' 169 But (now that the Qur'an has come), they reject it: But soon will they know! 170 for, long ago has Our word gone forth unto Our servants, the message-bearers, 171 that they shall certainly be succoured, 172 And that Our host, they verily would be the victors. 173 (Muhammad), stay away from them for a while 174 See them and soon they shall see. 175 Then for Our punishment are they impatient? 176 Then, when it descends into their courtyard (i.e. near to them), evil will be the morning for those who had been warned! 177 So turn thou away from them for a little while, 178 And watch; they will come to know soon. 179 Hallowed be thine Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they ascribe! 180 Peace be upon the Messengers 181 and praise be to God, the Lord of all the Worlds. 182
