The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to the stinters; 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 unto a mighty day 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 Would that you knew what Sijin is!? 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise). 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 You will recognize in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim. 27 a spring at which those drawn close to God will drink. 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 and when they went back to their families, they went back jesting, 31 And upon seeing the Muslims, they used to say, “Indeed they have gone astray.” 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers, 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
