And, verily, Yunus (Jonah) was one of the Messengers. 139 When he fled unto the laden ship, 140 He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was condemned: 141 So the whale swallowed him, for he was blameworthy, 142 But had it not been that he was of those who glorify (Us), 143 He would have remained inside its belly until the Day they are resurrected. 144 ۞ We then put him ashore on a plain, and he was sick. 145 And We caused to grow over him a gourd vine. 146 We sent him as a messenger to a hundred thousand people or more, 147 and [this time] they believed [in him] and so We allowed them to enjoy their life during the time allotted to them? 148 So ask them for a pronouncement -- Has thy Lord daughters, and they sons? 149 or is it that We have created the angels female, and they [who believe them to be divine] have witnessed [that act of creation]? 150 Then is it of their lying that they say: 151 "God has begotten children." They are truly liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What aileth you? How judge ye? 154 Will you not, then, bethink yourselves? 155 Do you have clear authority? 156 Then bring your scripture, if what you say is true. 157 They link Him with jinns by lineage, yet the jinns know they will be brought before Him. 158 Exalted is Allah above what they describe, 159 except for God's sincere servants. 160 But as for you, and that you worship, 161 cannot mislead anyone 162 unless it be such as rushes towards the blazing fire [of his own accord]! 163 None of us is there, but has a known station; 164 And verily we! we are ranged in ranks. 165 we are they that give glory. 166 And there were those who said, 167 'If only we had a reminder from the ancients, 168 then were we God's sincere servants.' 169 But they disbelieved in it, so they are going to know. 170 And Our word has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers, 171 That they verily would be helped, 172 and Our armies shall be the victors. 173 So turn (away) from them for a while. 174 And see [what will befall] them, for they are going to see. 175 Do they want to suffer Our torment immediately? 176 When it comes down on their plains, it will be an evil dawn for those who had been warned. 177 So turn away from them for a while. 178 and see, soon they shall see! 179 Too glorious is your Lord, the Lord of power, for what they ascribe to Him. 180 And peace be upon all His message-bearers! 181 and all praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Universe. 182
