And indeed We saved the Children of Israel from the humiliating torment, 30 From Firaun; he was indeed proud, among the transgressors. 31 and We chose them, out of a knowledge above the nations (of their time). 32 and bestowed upon them the Signs wherein lay an evident test for them. 33 These men do say, 34 There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 So bring our ancestors back, if you are truthful." 36 Are they better, or the people of Tubba? And those who were before them? We destroyed them; they were indeed criminals. 37 We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, merely in (idle) sport: 38 We created them with definite purpose; but most of them do not understand. 39 Verily the Day of Distinction is the term appointed for all of them. 40 The day on which a friend shall not avail (his) friend aught, nor shall they be helped, 41 save those to whom God shows mercy. Surely, He is the Mighty, the Merciful One. 42
