The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 Arise, and warn, 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 Do not bestow favours in expectation of return, 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 When the Trumpet is sounded, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 and to whom I have granted resources vast, 12 and sons ever present with him, 13 and to whose life I gave so wide a scope: 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 and thus he destroys himself, the way he meditates: 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 Anon shall I roast him into the Scorching Fire. 26 And what could make thee conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
