The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the Great News 2 About which they have been differing? 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
