Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha, Meem. 1 By the Clear Book; 2 Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that you might understand. 3 And verily, it is in the Mother of the Book, in Our Presence, high (in dignity), full of wisdom. 4 [O YOU who deny the truth!] Should We, perchance, withdraw this reminder from you altogether, seeing that you are people bent on wasting your own selves? 5 How many a Prophet did We send to the earlier peoples! 6 And never came there a Prophet to them but they used to mock at him. 7 We utterly destroyed them although they were greater in might than these. The examples of ancient peoples have gone before. 8 (Muhammad), if you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" They will certainly say, "The Majestic and All-knowing God has created them". 9 He it is Who made this earth for you a cradle and made in it pathways for you that you may find the way to your destination; 10 It is He who sends water down from the sky in due measure, We revive dead land with it and likewise you will be resurrected from the grave, 11 He Who created all the pairs, and appointed for you ships and cattle whereupon ye ride. 12 so that you can sit upon their backs and then remember the Favors of your Lord and say: 'Exaltations to Him who has subjected these to us otherwise, we ourselves were not capable of it, 13 And surely to our Lord we must return. 14 The pagans have considered some of His servants as His children. There is no doubt that the human being is simply ungrateful. 15
