The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O THOU [in thy solitude] enfolded! 1 Arise, and warn, 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 thy robes purify 4 shun uncleanness; 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 For the sake of thy Lord, be patient! 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 for the unbelievers not easy. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 I shall oblige him to (climb a slippery mountain in the Hell-fire called As-Sa'ud, or to) face a severe torment! 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 and then he looks [around for new arguments,] 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 then he retreated, and waxed proud. 23 Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others); 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what will make you realize what hell is? 27 It leaveth naught; it spareth naught 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 over it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
