The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
