The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (all that exists), 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
