The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra. These are verses of the Scripture and a plain Reading. 1 Perhaps those who disbelieve will wish that they had been Muslims. 2 Let them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by [false] hope, for they are going to know. 3 Whenever We destroyed a town, a definite term had previously been decreed for it. 4 No nation can anticipate its term, nor delay it. 5 And they say: "O you (Muhammad SAW) to whom the Dhikr (the Quran) has been sent down! Verily, you are a mad man. 6 Why do you not bring down angels upon us if you are indeed truthful?" 7 But We send down the angels only to bring justice and then they will not be reprieved. 8 Surely We have revealed the Reminder and We will most surely be its guardian. 9 AND, INDEED, [O Prophet,] even before thy time did We send [Our apostles] unto communities of old 10 but there was never a messenger who came to them but they mocked him: 11 Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty: 12 They do not believe in the Truth and they exactly follow the tradition of the ancient (unbelievers) 13 Even if We opened out to them a gate from heaven, and they were to continue (all day) ascending therein, 14 They will say all the same: "Our eyes were dazed (and clouded over). We were a people ensorcelled." 15
