The people of 'Ad accused the messengers of lies. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not take heed? 124 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 Fear Allah and obey me. 126 I ask no recompense of you for it. My reward is due from none but the Lord of all the worlds. 127 Do you build on every height a monument? Vain is it that you do: 128 And take ye for yourselves castles that haply ye may abide. 129 And will you [always,] whenever you lay hand [on others,] lay hand [on them] cruelly, without any restraint? 130 “Therefore fear Allah, and obey me.” 131 and [thus] be conscious of Him who has [so] amply provided you with all [the good] that you might think of 132 He hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 “Indeed I fear upon you the punishment of a Great Day.” 135 They said: "It is the same to us if you warn us or do not warn. 136 your preaching is nothing but ancient legends and we shall not face any torment". 137 We are not going to be damned." 138 So they gave him the lie, then We destroyed them. Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 And verily thy Lord? He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
